This is a 2-day workshop. All classes run 9 – 4 pm each day with lunch included from 12 – 1 pm.

Within this immersive workshop, students delve into the realm of underglaze paints, pastels, brushes and fine line applicators, exploring a spectrum of decorating styles while nurturing their individual design sensibilities – be it patterns, vivid images, or abstract expressions. Under the expert guidance provided, participants will learn application methods, gain inspiration, and create compelling compositions that reflect their distinct artistic vision.
Irrespective of prior drawing or painting skills, this course is thoughtfully designed to cater to a diverse range of artistic backgrounds. It offers a boundless exploration of surface imagery using the versatile medium of underglaze products.
By the workshop’s conclusion, attendees emerge not only with a deeper understanding of their unique creative preferences, but also equipped with the skills to nurture and amplify their own distinct artistic voice in the sphere of pottery decoration.

Ailsa Brown embarked on her art studies at the Chelsea School of Art in London, England where she found inspiration through firsthand exposure to the city's abundant museums and galleries. After completing her initial year abroad, she returned to Vancouver, BC, earning her diploma at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design, where she delved deeper into her passions for painting and ceramics.
