Capturing Shapes in the Natural World with Watercolour

Capturing Shapes in the Natural World with Watercolour

This workshop is a celebration of the Natural World paired with creative energy. Over the two days you will be spending time outdoors on the pristine grounds of Shawnigan Lake School. Outdoor time will allow to visualize shapes and forms. Shapes evoke a personal and physical response. It’s exciting to discover how each of us relates to various forms.

The playful learning of the outdoor time comes back into the classroom environment. In this space we use and develop other skills. The process of drawing and painting a botanical illustration will be completed. A botanical illustration is a beautiful and accurate depiction of an actual plant. Nature provides the perfect subject matter for watercolour Illustration.

This  class has two separate components that tie together outdoor and indoor learning. The relationship with the natural world exercises will be realized outdoors. The shapes in the natural world and how we understand them are united with the drawing and painting of watercolours.

This class will capture both our emotional responses to shapes and physical responses of our own creative energy.

NOTE: This is not a gardening class and no knowledge of plant material is needed.
