Pushing the Boundaries – Exploring the Abstract in the Narrative (Sculpture)

Pushing the Boundaries – Exploring the Abstract in the Narrative (Sculpture)

This 5-day intensive workshop explores the integration of human and/or animal forms in sculpture while pushing the boundaries of abstraction. Working from sketches and reference materials participants will experiment with combining their original forms, focusing on composition, and storytelling. I will work closely with students through the exploration of ideas, emphasizing process and idea development, aided by demonstrations and individual assistance. Techniques covered in this workshop will include coil building, slab building, hollow form construction and surface decoration.
By the end of the session students will learn to construct clay sculptures and gain deeper insights into techniques for creating expressive, emotionally impactful sculptural compositions.
