Are you interested in becoming an instructor at MISSA? In early fall the MISSA Board of Directors starts planning the workshop program for the following summer to be able to have the new classes posted to the website in January of the new year. To help build excitement about your workshop, social media announcements will be made as instructor contracts are signed.

MISSA 2024 Summer Arts Program: July 19 – August 2

Please note that the MISSA Summer Arts Program has moved from its long time location in Metchosin, BC and now takes place on the beautiful Shawnigan Lake School campus, in Shawnigan Lake, B.C.

Teaching contracts are offered on a per-workshop basis and are not an assurance of year-to-year teaching. Workshop proposals must be submitted each year and are the first step to being accepted. If your proposal is accepted, you will be asked to complete a more detailed workshop form. We prefer that instructors who are new to MISSA start with a two-day proposal. Instructors receive an honorarium and all meals and accommodations are covered. Economy travel is covered for out of town instructors and reimbursement of supplies used for teaching are to be discussed ahead of time with MISSA.

An updated Instructor FAQ sheet will be made available shortly.

If you are interested in becoming an instructor at MISSA, please consider the following:

1. You will need to include a brief bio with teaching, education and reference details
2. Short course proposal (2-day or 5-day) Class size is limited to 12 students and classes run 9-4 each day.
3. Contact info and website details (Please note that a website or equivalent web presence is a must.)

Please consider teaching with us! We look forward to hearing from you for MISSA 2024 and beyond!

MISSA 2024 Workshop Proposal

Please provide a brief but concise proposal for a workshop you would like to teach at MISSA.

  • Please make the title as brief as possible, yet clear about what the workshop is about. This is the hook that will get people to read more about your workshop.
  • Describe what the students can expect to learn and experience in this workshop. Use description as much as possible as this is what will entice artists to attend your workshop.
  • Workshops are offered in 2-day and 5-day blocks divided into Weekend One, Week One, Weekend Two and Week Two. Sometimes an exception can be made for a 7-day workshop. Please note that for first time MISSA instructors, it is suggested to submit a 2-day proposal to start, but depending on the workshop topic or the instructor travel distance, a 5-day will be accepted.
