Would you like to teach to an inspiring group of adult art students? How about becoming an instructor at MISSA?

MISSA 2025 Summer Arts Program: July 4 – 18

Please note that the MISSA Summer Arts Program will be moving to a new location in 2025, to the ocean-side campus of Brentwood College School, in Mill Bay, BC.

In early fall, the MISSA Program Committee starts planning the Summer Arts Program and they need confirm instructors  in time to be able to launch the full program on-line in January of the new year.  As instructor contracts are signed, social media posts are made to help build excitement about this newly added summer workshop. We call them “sneak peeks” and they really help to stir up interest leading up to the program launch.

Teaching contracts are offered on a per-workshop basis and are not an assurance of year-to-year teaching. Workshop proposals must be submitted each year and are the first step needed in this process. If your proposal is accepted, you will be asked to complete a more detailed workshop form. It is suggested that instructors who are new to MISSA start with a two-day proposal, but depending on the complexity of the workshop and/or the distance needed to travel, an initial 5-day proposal is completely acceptable. Instructors receive an hourly teaching fee (6 hrs/day) and all meals and accommodations are covered while on campus. Economy travel is covered for out of town instructors and the reimbursement of supplies used for teaching are to be discussed ahead of time with MISSA.

Instructor FAQ to be updated for 2025 and will include our new location. Coming soon!

MISSA 2025 Workshop Proposal

Please provide a brief but concise proposal for a workshop you would like to teach at MISSA.

  • Please make the title as brief as possible, yet clear about what the workshop is about. This is the hook that will get people to read more about your workshop.
  • Describe what the students can expect to learn and experience in this workshop. Use description as much as possible as this is what will entice artists to attend your workshop.
  • Workshops are offered in 2-day and 5-day blocks divided into Weekend One, Week One, Weekend Two and Week Two. Sometimes an exception can be made for a 7-day workshop. Please note that for first time MISSA instructors, it is suggested to submit a 2-day proposal to start, but depending on the workshop topic or the instructor travel distance, a 5-day will be accepted.

MISSA workshops are known for a low student to teacher ratio and are most often limited to 12 students. MISSA needs to have a minimum number of participants to make the workshop financially viable. This is where we need the help from instructors to promote their workshops.
