SUSAN PURNEY MARK - Instructor at MISSA 2020

As an award winning textile artist, Susan lives on Pender Island BC, the traditional lands of the W̱SÁNEĆ and Tsawout  peoples.

She has always been excited by applying layers of dyes and paints to achieve interesting pattern and texture to the surface of fabric, and she has been creating both contemporary wall and dimensional work since the early 1990’s. Rooted in her family's needlework traditions, her creations have evolved from functional to pioneering, embodying experimentation, exploration, and the essence of experience.

She works as an extension of her thought processes, both tactile and illusory, necessary to her wellbeing as much as the desire to be creative.
