SANDY HARQUAIL - Instructor at MISSA 2020

Sandy works with slabs to create both functional and sculptural work out of her studio in Nanaimo. She uses clay like a seamstress uses fabric, cutting patterns with curves and darts to change the shapes and forms. Her pottery elevates the routines of the everyday with simplified and elegant lines. She is a two time first prize recipient of the Salt Spring Island Ceramics Awards and has exhibited across Canada in a number of group shows and exhibitions.

Her passion for creating informs her teaching practice in the public schools of Nanaimo and in ceramic workshops. Sharing what she has learned over the years with the next generation of creators is a rewarding aspect of her career.
