HEATHER ASTON - Instructor at MISSA 2020

Heather Aston is a printmaker and painter that works out of the Dundarave Print Workshop on Granville Island and her home studio in Vancouver, BC. Born and raised in West Vancouver she is an Honours *graduate in Printmaking from The Vancouver School of Art (1967-71), a Canada Council Grant recipient (2001) and a four year Helen Pitt Fine Art Scholarship recipient *(1968-1972).

In 1991 Heather studied at the Santa Reparata Institute in Florence, Italy where she fell in love with the immediacy and spontaneity of making Monotypes. She was invited to OM Printmaking Studio in Yokohama, Japan for an artist residency (2001) and returned to Japan in 2006 to speak at the openings of the Trilateral Printmaking Exhibition in Nagasaki and Kochi; 75 participating artists from Holland, Canada and Japan of which she was one.

She teaches printmaking and mixed-media in schools, art institutes and studios. Her work is exhibited regularly in galleries and is represented in numerous collections locally and internationally.
