Description
Angela Mueller
Angela is a Canadian realist painter whose early exposure to oil painting through her grandfather sparked a lifelong passion for the arts. Though trained in an abstract-based school, she ultimately returned to realism, drawn to the beauty of natural forms, the play of light, and strong compositional structure. Her work focuses primarily on landscape and portraiture, deeply influenced by years spent hiking, skiing, and climbing in remote wilderness areas.
Angela is a graduate of the Victoria College of Art and has completed rigorous academic training, including a four-year part-time program at the Vancouver Academy of Art, a four-year full-time program at the Realist Academy in Toronto, and advanced studies under Michael John Angel through the Angel Academy in Florence. She has also studied with noted American artists such as Robert Liberace, Yuqi Wang, and Michael Klein.
Her accolades include being a finalist and Purchase Award winner in the Art Renewal Center’s prestigious competition, publication in Strokes of Genius 6, and inclusion in Art Journey: Portraits and Figures (2014). In 2025, she won second place in the Federation Gallery’s “Works on Paper” exhibition.
Angela has exhibited in Toronto, Victoria, Vancouver, Squamish, and Whistler. Her work is held in private collections across Switzerland, Ireland, Australia, the USA, China, and Canada. In addition to exhibiting, she taught the French Academic method part-time for several years and continues to take portrait and landscape commissions through her gallery.
