Magic At Our Feet: A Botanical Notebook

June 24 - 28

Magic At Our Feet: A Botanical Notebook

WEEK ONE (5-day): June 24 – 28, 2019   Classes run from 9 am – 4 pm each day and students are welcome to stay late in their studio.

Magic at our Feet: A Botanical Notebook

With your notebook in hand, like Edith Holden in her ” Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady”,  capture a bit of summer observing, recording and gathering nature in the woods and shoreline of beautiful Metchosin. Take a closer look at botanical watercolours through a ‘bug’s eye view’ of nature, the magic at our feet.

Back in the studio our field notes can evolve into a naturalist’s journal, or they could be preliminary sketches for a finished painting, plant portrait or even a collage mixing and matching the thumbnail sketches. With lessons in drawing and a fresh approach to watercolour, (pen and ink optional), capture what nature has to offer in this week of summer.

Individual attention guaranteed to help you find your own style and create a lasting notebook that perhaps will inspire a lasting notebook for all of the seasons.

All levels welcome

Bryony Wynne-Jones

Bryony Wynne-Jones is a British born watercolour artist, which speaks to her love of natural history and all things botanical. Through her three decades of exploring watercolour, Bryony has been fascinated by the patterns and depth of colour and great variety in natural subjects. She likes to see how one can approach a seemingly complicated subject and, by breaking it down to the pattern, all is clarified and the drawing can commence. Her approach is fairly formal, but with much licence and fun.
