This is a 5-day workshop. All classes run 9 – 4 pm each day with lunch included from 12 – 1 pm.
Drypoint engraving on polycarbonate plastic (Lexan) creates dramatic expressive printed images with rich and varied tones from deep black to soft silvers. The transparency of Lexan means your drawings and photos can be translated with ease onto the plate.
In this workshop we will draw from still life and nature. We will experiment with mark-making on a test plate sampler using many different tools and drawing approaches. We will introduce colour to drypoint by learning to register a double plate print. Student will create drypoint images from their own subject matter and personal themes.
The instructor will provide step-by-step demos of the drypoint process including how to prepare paper, ink a plate and how to pull your print using the press. Drypoint is a direct and beautiful form of intaglio printmaking, adding texture and depth to simple drawings.
This price includes: tuition, daily lunch, material fees (if required), any applicable taxes and is listed in Canadian Dollars.
