CHOW-DOWN Ceramic Fundraiser

Thursday August 11

  • 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm  (Outside, under Peter’s Pavilion next to Duxbury House)
  • 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Cash bar
  • Musical guests: Rick & Rusty

This annual event has been a highlight of the MISSA summer and this year, there is a twist!  After you enjoy a warm bowl of Westcoast seafood chowder… you get to eat the bowl! Yes, a bread bowl.

As we re-group after two years of cancelled summer programs, we must build back our collection of ceramic bowls. Next year, you will be able to Chow-Down and then take home a real bowl. Thank you for your understanding!

This event is a fundraiser and we are very excited to be raising funds to build a new gas kiln on the campus of Shawnigan Lake School, in the very near future.

This evening is open to MISSA students and the public but tickets are limited! Get your ticket early so you are not disappointed, only $30!  Available here or in-person at MISSA Central.

A bit more about Rick and Rusty!

Combining over a century of musical experience, Russ Godfrey (Guitar and vocals) and Rick Van Krugel (Mandolin family instruments, guitar and vocals) are a duo whose musical roots grow deep. Influenced by almost every genre of music this intrepid duo offers an inspired and eclectic show. Friends since 1974, they have a compelling take on life and it comes through in their songs. Having musically come of age in the sixties and seventies, their music embodies the colour and variety of a dynamic era.  They have a LOT of fun with their music, and you can hear it!

Styles of music vary from vintage popular songs to the traditional ethnic music of the American South (including such genres as blues, jug band, Appalachian fiddle tunes and country) and the Celtic musings of Scotland and Ireland.

Enjoy the show!

Please Note: This event is optional evening activity for MISSA students and a CHOW-DOWN ticket is required to attend ($30).
