Cara Bain is an artist and educator based in Vancouver. She holds a Bachelor’s of Visual Communication, and has expanded her knowledge and technical skills through multi-faceted training approaches with various artists. She has been an active teacher at various private institutions for nearly a decade.
Cara’s drawings and paintings explore the human figure, landscape, and still life, with a strong emphasis in working from direct observation. She aims to capture the fleeting nuances of a shared experience, whether working en plein air or with the live model. In her recent work, abstract expressionist colour fields have weaved their way into this world, creating newfound tensions and discoveries.
Cara’s encouraging nature and structured approach helps her students make significant progress in her classes, leaving them inspired in their artistic growth.
